The Precinct is where we can feel secure and free. Many of us are looking forward to seeing our friends again when it's safe to do so. We all need that light at the end of the tunnel - that light is seeing our queer family again. The community and over the top queerness has been missing for a year now. I've put together a gallery of nightlife photos I've taken over the years at Precinct. Precinct means a lot to me I have been there with them since the beginning when people from the queer community came together and volunteered to lay tile and help build the bar. They concentrated on playing pop and top 40 hits and quickly became known around LA as one. In addition to being an integral part of the UKs queer scene, the club has also had a presence at London and Manchester Pride for decades. In 2018 the Precinct and local queer community mourned the death of owner Thor Stephens. 'La La La' is a song released by British record producer Naughty Boy, featuring vocals from Sam Smith.
Alongside other downtown queer/alternative spaces and institutions like Redline, New Jalisco, The Lash, and DTLA Proud, Precinct is part of a family of inclusiveness and love that is needed more than ever. Not only is Precinct the largest gay bar downtown, but it was also crucial to downtown Los Angeles' queer renaissance and redevelopment. It was the first Downtown Los Angeles gay bar to open in nearly two decades. Chorus: bbno When I popped off then your girl gave me just a little bit of lockjaw.
From drag shows to dance parties, Precinct attracted many of LA's contemporary nightlife legends self-dubbed "rock and roll gay bar" is a space for leather, drag, and bears of all races, genders, nonbinary, and self-identities.īrian McIntire and Thor Stephens opened the Precinct in the Spring of 2015. Naw, nana, bananana, nanananananana (Nana, ah-ah) Alright, dada, dadadada. I also host, promote, and photograph several parties there (remember those?).
